In my opinion, the internal part of different alfa engines descended from the 1.8 is pretty much the same. Only the housing is different in some cases. Note that the 1.8 engine in the HGT is a younger brother of the 2 litre Alfa lump as used in the later 155s. Might give you a few more options, people to talk to, etc. You have to live in hope, but I doubt very much that the HGT box is anything like as tough as the Coupe 16v Turbo one, which is, in essence, the Delta Integrale box, which has i have a punto mk2 1.8 hgt on a 51 plate , when the fans kick in(as in when im stuck in traffic), they are incredibly noisey, so i was thinkin of changing them for new fiat ones/or any other that anyone knows of who makes one. only problem is, when i checked under the bonnet, there is two I bought a 1.8 HGT. The bottom and top end were knackered so i got it a new engine. Fitted the new engine, wouldnt start, was an earth wire fault. Got it working, drove it about, STALLED IT! Since then it hasnt started. It turns over but thats it. Theres also a light on the dash the shape of a Didn't realise till recently there is a 1.9 diesel HGT, same power and much more torque. Probably a better bet. (Not driven one but the wifes 40hp less one goes well). I have the cam lock kit for the mk2 punto 1.8hgt 16v which I'm assuming is the same engine. Is it the same (Iknow it will have Hi ive just got a yellow 2002 1.8HGT nice looking car one big problem with it is no power ie put your foot down & doesn't seem to do much any help please .
